How to properly use my candle

A long-lasting candle is a well-maintained candle. Discover my tips for taking care of your candle.

Before lighting your candle

Ensure your candle is on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

If needed, trim the wick. It should be between 0.7 mm and 1 cm. If the wick is too long, carbon can accumulate at the tip of the wick and cause black smoke.

If your candle has two wicks, it's important to light both for an even burn.

While burning

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Do not move the candle while it is burning.

For optimal burning, let the candle burn thoroughly until the wax melts to the edge of the container. The entire surface should become liquid to prevent the candle from tunneling later on.

Do not place the candle near a window; the wick might flicker and affect the burn.

If the wick leans and falls into the wax, extinguish the candle and straighten the wick. Once solidified, trim the wick to the correct length.

Do not burn your candle for more than 3 hours for large sizes and more than 2.5 hours for small sizes, to avoid altering the wax and fragrance.

Never burn your candle all the way to the bottom of the container; always leave 1 cm of wax. This will prevent the glass and your surface from overheating.

Extinguishing

To extinguish your candle, the best solution is to quickly dip the wick into the hot wax with a tool and then lift it out. The wick will then be coated in wax, making it easier to light next time.

If you don't have a tool, gently blow on the wick to avoid splashing hot wax.

After extinguishing

Do not move your candle while the wax is hot and liquid.
